Winter is here
Funny how I always seem to start of with "well". Well, maybe I won't do that today.
This morning I woke up to this view out the front window. I'm really not the greatest fan of snow, and I guess they are predicting it will get a lot worse over the weekend. But, I guess that's what I get for living in Michigan.
Fridays are always a little odd. We always have breakfast a little late which sort of sets my schedule off. I guess I'm not all that good at keeping to the schedule anyway, so perhaps it doesn't make so much difference.
The morning's emails brought some good stuff, tho. I got an email from that buddy that stopped over yesterday that he seems to be on his way, and while he was here, he mentioned a problem with his mobile rig. He was expecting he might have to get it repaired. I made a suggestion that perhaps a particular setting had been changed, and that turned out to be the problem, so that is fixed, too.
A few weeks back I got a note from the editor of the ARES E-Letter asking for some input on the rash of tornadoes we had back in October. I gave him a quick summary, and pointed him at the various ECs who had been activated. After all, they are the guys who really know. I also indicated to him that if he didn't want to contact those guys, I could put together some prose for him, let me know. After I didn't hear from him, I tried to email him again but no response, and a strange response from headquarters when I called them to try to contact him. Well, anyway, today the E-Letter arrived with my summary leading off. Kind of nice to see us get top billing, but I would rather the guys who did the work get their names there instead of me.
A few days ago I posted a question in the PHP group here about the GD library running under Windows. Quite a few folks read that, but no answers. There was one response, that a question of what I was using GD for. GD is kinda grody, I wonder if perhaps there isn't something else everyone uses. Maybe it is too low level for most folks to figure out why they would want it, so perhaps a tutorial is in order, or perhaps there is something way better. I think I'll let it stew a few more days and then see if a further clarification is in order. Or maybe I'll also ask on LinkedIn.
The graph as you can see is pretty crude, but it does the job. If there is something a little higher level that might be nice, but there is a lot of data, and it changes every month, so I really wouldn't like something a lot slower.
OK, here it is almost 11 O'clock and I still haven't gotten with the program. I better quit grazing multiply and try to get something done.
